Junior Merchandiser / Merchandising Executive

Client: (Apparel Manufacturing – Knit & Woven)

Our client is a Delhi NCR–based apparel manufacturing unit specialising in knit and woven garments for large domestic retail brands , operating with in-house production and defined buyer compliance processes .

JOB PURPOSE

To manage and coordinate the end-to-end merchandising and order execution cycle — from buyer enquiry and sampling through bulk production, quality checks, and dispatch — in a process-driven, SOP-led manufacturing environment .

The role is designed to ensure timely execution, documentation accuracy, and strict adherence to buyer-defined timelines and standards .

This is a hands-on execution role, not a managerial or strategic position.

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT

The role will work closely with internal factory and support functions including:

  • Production & factory floor teams
  • Sourcing & planning
  • Quality & finishing
  • Admin & dispatch coordination

No team-handling responsibility is attached to this role.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Merchandising & Buyer Coordination

  • Act as a single coordination point for assigned styles and orders
  • Handle buyer communication strictly as per defined SOPs and approval workflows
  • Track and manage samples, approvals, comments, and revisions

2. Sampling & Pre-Production

  • Coordinate sample development as per buyer specifications
  • Track sample approvals and feedback loops
  • Ensure approved samples are used as reference standards for bulk production

3. Production Follow-Ups

  • Coordinate with:
  • Cutting
  • Stitching
  • Finishing
  • Quality
  • Maintain and track Time & Action (T&A) calendars
  • Proactively flag delays, quality issues, or execution risks

4. Order Tracking & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate, order-wise documentation including:
  • Tech packs
  • Sample approvals
  • Purchase orders
  • Size sets and buyer comments
  • Update daily order status trackers for management visibility

5. Quality & Dispatch Support

  • Support in-line and final quality checks aligned with structured retail expectations
  • Ensure packing and dispatch instructions are followed as per buyer SOPs
  • Coordinate with admin/accounts for dispatch documentation and records

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

  • On-time sample development and approvals
  • On-time bulk order execution
  • Accuracy and completeness of order documentation
  • Adherence to buyer timelines and SOPs
  • Reduction in follow-up gaps and execution delays
  • Consistency in daily reporting and tracker updates

  • Production supervisors
  • Cutting, stitching, finishing teams

  • Buyers / buying offices
  • Fabric and trim vendors (as required)

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Educational Qualification

  • Graduate (Textiles / Fashion / Apparel preferred)

Relevant Experience

  • 1–4 years of experience in apparel merchandising or manufacturing setups
  • Exposure to domestic retail buyers / large-format buying offices preferred

Skill Requirements

  • Strong follow-up and coordination discipline
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Working knowledge of apparel production flow
  • Comfortable with Excel / Google Sheets and structured reporting
  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and process-focused
