Overview

The MS/Tele RN provides direct care to adult patients with a wide variety of medical conditions and post-surgical needs. They monitor vital signs, assess patient conditions, administer medications, and coordinate care with physicians and allied health professionals.


This is one of the most fast-paced and versatile inpatient nursing roles.


Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care


  • Perform head-to-toe assessments and monitor for changes




  • Administer medications and IV therapies



  • Provide wound care and post-surgical support


  • Assist with mobility, ADLs, and safety measures




  • Perform frequent neuro, cardiac, and respiratory checks




  • Works with behavioral health teams




  • Psychiatric assessment (SI/HI risk, de-escalation)




  • Managing behavioral health crises




  • Medication administration for psych patients


    • Clinical Judgment


  • Recognize patient deterioration and activate rapid response




  • Implement nursing interventions based on critical thinking




  • Communicate abnormal findings to providers


    • Care Coordination


  • Collaborate with providers, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, and case managers




  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds




  • Prepare patients for diagnostic tests or procedures


    • Documentation


  • Maintain accurate and timely EMR notes



  • Support discharge planning and patient education
