Unit Summary

The Respiratory Therapy department of the Hamilton General is a team with highly specialized skills and expertise intended to meet the respiratory needs of the diverse patient populations served by the multiple clinical programs and Regional Programs for South Central Ontario. 

Areas of responsibility include ICU E/S, providing specialized care to the neurosciences, trauma, medical, vascular, and surgical patient populations; ICU W - CV surgical unit; CCU; Regional Burn Unit; HIU; and Emergency. In addition to supporting these specialized units the Respiratory Therapy department addresses the respiratory needs of patients throughout the General site. Select members of the Respiratory Therapy department in collaboration with the physician operate the Hyperbaric Unit meeting both scheduled and emergent hyperbaric needs.
