Job Description
As a Powered Industrial Truck Trainer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of powered industrial trucks within our facility i.e. sit down, reach trucks, powered pallet jacks, scissor lifts & VNA Forklifts. This critical role involves experience and delivering comprehensive training programs that comply with all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and company policies. In addition, there are a variety of safety programs which you will be asked to provide support for on an as-needed basis.
Key Responsibilities:Evaluate Competence: Conduct thorough performance evaluations and assessments to ensure all trainees possess the necessary skills and judgment to operate equipment safely in our specific workplace environment.
Ensure Compliance: Maintain detailed documentation and records of all training activities, evaluations, and operator certifications to ensure full compliance with OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910.178).
Hazard Identification: Teach operators to identify potential workplace hazards and implement safety protocols to minimize accidents.
Incident Investigation: Collaborate with management to investigate workplace incidents and recommend corrective actions and training enhancements.
Maintain Equipment Standards: Ensure operators understand and perform pre-shift inspections and proper maintenance procedures for various equipment types (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks, etc.).
Provide support to the Safety Officer on an as-needed basis for programs which may include but are not limited to safety walks, safety audits, DOT compliance, and other safety and compliance-related programs. Qualifications and Skills: Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience operating powered industrial trucks in a high-paced environment. Prior experience as a safety instructor or corporate trainer is preferred.
Certification: Must possess current, active certification as a "Train-the-Trainer" from a recognized safety organization in Class |, Il Ill & IV Forklifts
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of OSHA safety regulations and industry best practices.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor teaching methods to diverse learners and motivate employees to take safety seriously.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, move, squat, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Background: Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
