Volvo Group Australia manages the manufacturing, distribution and operation of well-known brands such as Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, UD Trucks, Volvo Bus, Volvo Penta, Volvo Construction Equipment and Volvo Financial Services.

In this role, you will be joining our Volvo Penta business, specifically working for one of Penta’s sub-companies – Humphree AB. Humphree was established in Sweden in 2002 with the mission to provide and develop innovative stabilization products and services to the marine market segment. Packaging our know-how in hydrodynamics, electronics, and digital controls onto products that are easy to use and install.

What you will do

As the Sales & Application Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the Humphree Stabilization Systems market in Oceania through an already established network and local partners. You will also develop and grow the market by finding new opportunities via partners, owners, operators, and yards.

As Humphree work closely with leisure, commercial and government customers, you will work within these sectors. Our products are installed on everything from 25 feet outboard motorboats to bigger yachts, patrol vessels, crew transfer vessels and even car ferries.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Identify and source for new business
  • Prepare commercial offers, agreements, or business collaboration with customers, in cooperation with management in Sweden
  • Prepare technical documentation and performance predictions
  • Perform sea-trials and commissioning
  • If need be, perform easier service tasks / fault finding
  • Educate Humphree partners and customers
  • Manage and supervise multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that Humphree meet project specifications, budgets, and timeline
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationship with existing and potential customers
  • Frequent travel within Australia, and with occasional international trips.

    • Your future team

    You will work from our Volvo Penta headquarters, which has recently moved from Coomera to a new facility in Yatala. Whilst you will report through to Humphree AB in Sweden, you will locally report to the Head of Volvo Penta Oceania, working alongside our Marine Sales & Marketing, Technical Support, Parts Support, Business Development and Warranty Support teams.

    • We will also be looking for applicants with the following technical skills:

  • Degree in Engineering (preferably naval focused), or equivalent working experience
  • Proven experience being a “boatie” – hands on experience on water vessels
  • Excellent customer relations focus
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
  • A focus on strategic sales and business development is beneficial
  • Experience with 2D and/or 3D drawings is beneficial.
