SAP Basis Consultant

Job Summary

The SAP Basis Consultant is responsible for the administration, installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, and support of the SAP landscape. The role ensures system stability, performance, and security across SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP integrations, SAP Solution Manager, and other SAP components deployed in the customer environment.

Key Process & Technical Knowledge

The consultant should have strong knowledge in:

  • SAP System AdministrationSAP S/4HANA and NetWeaver administration.SAP Solution Manager (ChaRM, Monitoring, ITSM).SAP Fiori and Gateway configuration.SAP HANA Database Administration.
  • System Landscape & ArchitectureSAP landscape strategy (Development, QA, Production, Sandbox).Transport management, CTS+, and change control.High availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) setup.Cloud and hybrid hosting models.
  • Security & ComplianceUser administration and role management (with GRC alignment).System security, patching, and vulnerability management.Support for audit & compliance controls (SOX, GDPR, ISO, SAMA).
  • Performance & MonitoringProactive monitoring, health checks, and system tuning.Early Watch reports and Solution Manager monitoring.Root cause analysis for system performance issues.
  • Upgrades & MigrationsSAP kernel and Support Package upgrades.S/4HANA upgrades and conversion projects.OS/DB migrations and cloud migration experience.

    • Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems and HANA databases.
  • Manage system copies, refreshes, and client strategy.
  • Implement transport management and change control procedures.
  • Ensure system availability, high performance, and scalability.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot batch jobs, RFCs, interfaces, and spool issues.
  • Work closely with functional and technical teams during implementations and upgrades.
  • Support disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Implement security patches, system hardening, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide ongoing production support and root cause analysis for incidents.
  • Document and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).

    • Required Qualifications & Skills

    Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA / SAP Basis Administration.

    • Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in SAP Basis and HANA administration.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA and SAP HANA DB.
  • Experience in system installations, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Strong experience with transport management and CTS+.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, SAP RISE) is a plus.

    • Technical Skills

  • SAP HANA administration and performance tuning.
  • Linux/Unix OS administration.
  • Database backup and recovery strategies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for SAP kernel, ABAP/JAVA stack.

    • Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration with IT infra and SAP teams.
  • Ability to work in mission-critical production support.
  • Problem-solving and structured documentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in tight project timelines
