Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled SAP BTP RAP Hands‑On Expert to design, develop, and deliver enterprise‑grade applications on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) using the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP). This role requires deep technical expertise, strong architectural thinking, and the ability to guide teams through modern ABAP cloud development practices.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop applications using SAP BTP ABAP Environment and RAP (Managed & Unmanaged scenarios).
Build CDS Views (Interface, Projection, Consumption) and implement Behavior Definitions & Behavior Implementations.
Develop Service Definitions, Service Bindings , and support Fiori Elements ‑based UI generation.
Implement Draft Handling , Validations , Authorizations , and Determinations within RAP.
Use EML (Entity Manipulation Language) for transactional processing and integration.
Optimize application performance, security, and scalability on SAP BTP.
Collaborate with architects, functional consultants, and UI developers to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and best‑practice guidance to development teams.
Support deployment, transport management, and lifecycle operations in the ABAP Cloud environment.
Troubleshoot complex issues across RAP layers, CDS, OData services, and BTP runtime.
Required Skills & Qualifications
6+ years of ABAP development experience, with at least 2+ years in SAP BTP ABAP Environment.
Strong hands‑on expertise with RAP , including behavior pools, behavior definitions, and transactional processing.
Deep understanding of CDS , OData , Fiori Elements , and RESTful service design.
Experience with Managed and Unmanaged RAP scenarios.
Proficiency with EML , Draft Handling , and Authorization concepts.
Solid understanding of cloud development principles , including CI/CD, Git‑based workflows, and multi‑tenant architecture.
Ability to translate functional requirements into scalable technical designs.
Strong debugging, performance tuning, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience integrating RAP applications with SAP UI5 , CAP , or external APIs.
Knowledge of BOPF and migration strategies to RAP.
Familiarity with SAP Cloud Transport Management (c TMS).
Exposure to event‑driven architecture on BTP.
SAP certifications in ABAP Cloud or BTP are a plus.
