SAP SD & EDI Functional Consultant

Job Summary

We are looking for a SAP SD / EDI Functional Consultant to support and enhance end-to-end EDI and SAP SD processes across order management, delivery, invoicing, inventory, and warehouse/3PL operations. The role includes working with key EDI transactions (850, 855, 856, 810, 846, 940, 945), IDoc processing and enhancements, coordination with middleware, technical teams, and business stakeholders. The consultant will handle requirement gathering, documentation, testing, and production support for all SD EDI interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Work on SAP SD Order-to-Cash processes including sales orders, deliveries, billing, pricing, ATP, BOP, batch management, HU management, and packaging.
• Design and support EDI flows for orders, confirmations, shipments/ASN, invoices, inventory updates, and warehouse/3PL messages using 850/ORDERS, 855/ORDRSP, 856/DESADV/SHPMNT, 810/INVOIC, 846, and mandatory 940/945.
• Handle functional design for labels and packaging data in EDI, including shipment labels, SSCC, HU structures, and tracking-related information.
• Analyze trading partner specifications and create functional mapping documents for middleware/integration teams.
• Configure and maintain EDI-related settings including partner profiles, ports, RFC destinations, message types, and output determination.
• Troubleshoot IDocs using WE02, WE05, BD87, WE09, WE19 and drive resolution with functional, technical, and middleware teams.
• Work on IDoc enhancements including Z-segments, user exits, BADIs, and custom fields.
• Prepare complete documentation including functional specs, mapping specs, interface overviews, test cases, and end-to-end process documentation.
• Execute SIT/UAT, validate EDI payloads (X12/EDIFACT/TRADECOM/XML), and coordinate with business,3PLs, and trading partners.
• Provide production support, perform RCA on recurring EDI/IDoc issues, and ensure stable and compliant interface operations.

Required Skills

• Strong SAP SD functional knowledge in order processing, delivery, billing, pricing, ATP, BOP, batch management, HU management, and packaging.
• Experience with EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT, GS1) covering 850, 855, 856, 810, 846, and 940/945.
• Knowledge of label and packaging flows including SSCC, shipment labels, and HU-based structures.
• Hands-on with SAP IDoc framework including ORDERS05, INVOIC02, DESADV/SHPMNT, INVRPT, and custom Z-IDocs.
• Practical experience in IDoc troubleshooting, monitoring, and analysis.
• Understanding of IDoc enhancement techniques (user exits, BADIs, custom segments).
• Knowledge of middleware/integration concepts (CPI/PIPO/OTHER-THIRD PARTY TOOLS) at a functional level.
• Understanding of ports and RFC connection types in SAP (WE21, SM59).
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of JSON-based interfaces, REST APIs, SOAP, BAPI integrations, or API-driven process designs.
