Job Details: Position: Scheduler Location: Santa Monica, CA 90404 Shift: Day | 5x8-Hour (08:30 AM - 05:00 PM) Duration: 13 weeks Position Summary: Seeking an experienced Scheduler to coordinate surgical and procedural appointments for patients at our Santa Monica location. This temporary, full-time role supports both patients and physicians by managing the full surgical scheduling process, including insurance verification, pre-operative requirements, and patient education. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-paced orthopedic environment. Key Responsibilities: • Coordinate all aspects of patient surgery scheduling, including pre-op and post-op appointments • Verify insurance benefits, secure surgery authorizations, and coordinate medical clearance requirements • Ensure all pre-operative studies and clearances are scheduled and completed • Schedule OR time and clinical staff in accordance with physician preferences and availability • Educate patients on surgical procedures, including reviewing risks and benefits per physician orders • Enroll patients in appropriate pre-surgical education classes as directed by the physician • Act as the primary point of contact and liaison for patients, physicians, and other departments • Coordinate special equipment and other resources as needed for surgical procedures • Respond to patient inquiries and concerns, providing support before, during, and after surgery • Facilitate service recovery or escalate patient issues to supervisors when necessary • Provide concierge-style coordination for patients and their designees • Manage physician referral work queues and ensure completion of referrals • Handle physician correspondence, including forms, authorization requests, transcription, and calendar support • Maintain and update patient charts, demographics, and insurance data • Collaborate with billing teams to provide necessary reports and documentation for audits • Work closely with Workers' Compensation Adjusters and Case Managers to manage authorizations and documentation for injured workers Required Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED • Minimum 2 years of surgery/procedure scheduling experience Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in an orthopedic setting • Interest in transitioning from temporary to permanent employment
