Pay Range: $21.00 - $25.00/hour (est. 84/hrs. per week)

Pay is based on numerous factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

***The role is based in a remote part of southern central Florida. You will be working 7-days a week and 12-hour shifts. All personnel will be required to live on-site, and meals and housing will be provided.***

Position Overview: 

We are seeking highly vigilant and professional Security Guards (Armed) to maintain safety and order within the custodial facility. In this crucial role, you will provide comprehensive external security, working in close collaboration with our custodial officers to ensure the secure supervision and movement of the facility population, and compliance with all facility regulations and protocols. This position requires a strong commitment to security, excellent observational skills, and the ability to respond effectively to critical incidents.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular patrols of the custodial facility's external perimeters, including buildings, grounds, and access points.
  • Monitor and control access to the custodial facility, ensuring only authorized personnel and visitors enter.
  • Operate and monitor security equipment, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and communication devices, reporting any suspicious activity or breaches to custodial staff.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, disturbances, or security breaches, working in conjunction with custodial officers to de-escalate situations and, if necessary, assist with approved physical interventions.
  • Perform thorough searches of vehicles, packages, and individuals entering or exiting the facility as per established protocols.
  • Assist custodial officers with the secure movement of personnel within the facility, maintaining constant vigilance and adherence to established procedures.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate reports on incidents, observations, and daily security activities.
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of assigned firearms and other security equipment, adhering to all training and qualification requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with custodial officers and other relevant personnel to ensure a secure and orderly environment.

    • Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess Class “G” Florida Statewide Firearms License.
  • Must possess Class “D” Florida Statewide Security Officer License. 
  • Must legally own and possess a registered approved 9mm semiautomatic pistol, .40 caliber handgun OR .45 ACP handgun.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in armed security, law enforcement, or military, with a strong preference for experience in a custodial setting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening.
  • Proficiency in the use of firearms and defensive tactics.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Strong understanding of security protocols within a custodial facility environment.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

    • Work Environment:

    Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

    Physical Requirements:

    Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach during shifts. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
