Job Description
CDM Smith's Environmental Services Group is seeking an Engineer, Scientist or Geologist with experience in developing and/or overseeing Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Remedial Designs, Remedial Actions, and Time Critical Removal Actions at contaminated sediment Superfund sites.
The candidate must have demonstrated expertise working independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team on remediation projects. The candidate must also have experience authoring (and/or providing written comments on) workplans and/or data reports; leading meetings with regulators, agency stakeholders, the general public, and/or consultants; and managing scope, schedule, and budget for complex remediation projects. Candidates with more extensive experience may be considered for a higher grade level than what is proposed for this advertisement.
Roles and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following regarding sediment remediation projects:
• Understanding the scientific and engineering principles of hydrodynamic, sediment transport, and contaminant fate and transport in riverine systems.
• Experience planning and leading investigations of various environmental media at sediment Superfund sites, including bathymetric surveys and sediment coring.
• Experience with data analyses to support the development of conceptual site models, mass balances, and data-based understanding of fate and transport processes. This would include experience with interpreting results from sediment cores, bathymetric surveys, etc.
• Experience evaluating the feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and assisting in the development of sediment remediation designs for large contaminated sediment sites involving multiple stakeholders.
• Serve as CDM Smith’s primary interface with clients on complicated sediment tasks; this includes having the ability to assess and understand a problem and develop and communicate a technical strategy to the client.
