Job Description

As a Senior Accountant based in Mumbai, you will join a dynamic finance team supporting our newly acquired entity in India, part of Sovos' global organization. This role is perfect for a qualified Chartered Accountant with progressive experience in INDAS accounting, statutory audit, and GST filing, who is ready to take on greater responsibility with a global software leader. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial operations, statutory compliance, internal controls, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.


Key Responsibilities


- Supervise and review day-to-day financial transactions, including customer/vendor invoices, receipts, and payment journal entries

- Review and approve sales orders, purchase orders, sales invoices, debit/credit notes, and bank payment files for vendor payments

- Ensure accurate and timely deduction and calculation of TDS, Income Tax, and GST liabilities, with strong focus on compliance across GST/TDS/payroll

- File GST returns and Income Tax returns accurately and on schedule

- Oversee documentation for inward remittances (FIRC, BRC) and foreign invoices, ensuring compliance with FEMA and coordinating with authorized dealers (banks) for Form 15CA/15CB and repatriation requirements

- Maintain and update accurate books of accounts in NetSuite, aligned with IND AS accounting standards

- Support monthly financial book closure and finalize monthly trial balance

- Implement internal controls and support automation/process improvements

- Assist with statutory audits, external audits, and special projects as required

- Research technical accounting matters including transfer pricing and prepare technical accounting whitepapers

- Interface with other departments to verify transaction data and resolve issues





Essential Qualifications


- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification

- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, ideally within a SaaS or software business

- Strong knowledge of Indian statutory compliance including TDS, GST, Income Tax, FEMA regulations, and INDAS accounting

- Knowledge of international accounting standards (US GAAP, IFRS)

- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proficiency in English

- Ability to work collaboratively in a global, cross-functional team environment

- Proven ability to supervise and mentor junior team members

- Proficiency in MS Excel and financial systems



Preferred Skills


- Experience with NetSuite or similar cloud-based ERP systems

- Experience in technical accounting, research, and reporting

- Prior experience supporting statutory audits and working with international teams

- Experience with process improvement, automation initiatives, and internal controls

- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas

- Experience in month-end close processes, transfer pricing, and financial reporting in a global organization
