In this role, you’ll help shape our transformation from IoT-focused solutions to AI-first, data-driven SaaS and marketplace-ready applications, directly impacting how our customers manage logistics, assets, and operations worldwide.

What You’ll Do:
Own the end-to-end architecture for ORBCOMM’s data, analytics, AI, and digital intelligence platforms supporting millions of assets and global customers. Define cloud-native, event-driven, and data-centric reference architectures for IoT telemetry, location intelligence, track and trace, booking visibility, and advanced analytics products. Architect multi-tenant, high-scale data platforms that unify IoT, location, and contextual business data including assets, bookings, customers, and network state into canonical data models. Establish enterprise-wide data engineering patterns including ingestion, normalization, enrichment, storage, and serving layers using Python-based frameworks and modern data platforms. Design and govern API-first and event-first integration frameworks using REST,gRPC, Kafka, and streaming architectures with strong versioning, backward compatibility, and contract enforcement. Drive AI-first platform design, enabling rapid MVP development while ensuring production-grade scalability, observability, governance, and cost efficiency. Define standards and architectures for ML lifecycle management, including feature pipelines, model deployment, monitoring, retraining, and failure recovery in partnership with ML engineering teams. Evaluate, select, and integrate LLMs and SLMs into enterprise workflows, including agent-based systems, operational intelligence, and decision support use cases. Lead the design of Model Context Protocols (MCP)or similar orchestration frameworks to enable secure, scalable AI agent interactions across data, tools, and models. Create andmaintain architectural standards, golden paths, and reference implementations to accelerate delivery across multiple product teams. Partner with the Lead Architect and product leadership to evolve ORBCOMM’s enterprise reference architecture, balancing innovation, technical debt, and long-term platform strategy. Ensure all architectures meet security, privacy, reliability, and performance requirements, including multi-tenant isolation, auditability, and regulatory compliance. Who You Are:
You are a data- and AI-focused technical leader with strong hands-on experience in modern platforms, especially if you have:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of overall experience in software architecture, data engineering, and solution design for large-scale, distributed systems. Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in Machine Learning, including model development, deployment, and integration into production systems (mandatory). Strong proficiency in Python, especially for data engineering, ML workflows, and backend services. Solid understanding of data engineering concepts, including batch and streaming pipelines, datamodeling, and distributed data processing. Experience working with or building MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar AI orchestration frameworks. Hands-on exposure to LLMs/SLMs and a strong curiosity and hunger to continuously learn and apply emerging AI technologies. Experience with AI agent frameworks and tooling, including Google Agent Toolkit, Microsoft Azure AI services, and OpenAI platforms. Solid understanding of cloud-native deployment (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps pipelines. Experience designing and integrating APIs within managed platforms. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and collaboration skills, with the ability to prototype and code as needed.
