We are currently hiring for a Senior Automation Engineer – DCS, OPC & Sugar Process Control for one of our esteemed clients.
Role Overview
- Position: Senior Automation Engineer – DCS, OPC & Sugar Process Control
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control Systems, or Automation Engineering
- 5–8 years of experience in industrial automation with at least 3 years in sugar manufacturing or similar process industries (food processing, chemical, pharmaceutical)
- Proven track record of DCS implementation, configuration, and optimization projects
Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of sugar manufacturing process (crushing to packaging) and associated control requirements
- Hands-on experience with major DCS platforms (DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, Siemens PCS7, Yokogawa Centum, or Rockwell PlantPAx)
- Expert-level skills in OPC server configuration, particularly Kepware or Matrikon
- Proficiency in TDT development and tag database management
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (OPC DA/UA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus)
- Experience with data historian systems and real-time database management
- Understanding of analyzer technologies used in sugar industry (Brix meters, pH, turbidity, color analyzers)
Sugar Industry Knowledge:
- Familiarity with process control strategies for juice extraction, clarification, multiple effect evaporators, vacuum pans, and crystallizers
- Understanding of cogeneration systems and their integration with process steam demands
- Knowledge of sugar quality parameters and their control impact on final product
- Awareness of seasonal operations, campaign planning, and rapid startup/shutdown procedures
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with SCADA systems (Wonderware, Ignition, FactoryTalk) integrated with sugar mill operations
- Exposure to MES systems and production reporting platforms
- Knowledge of advanced analytics, machine learning models for process optimization and predictive quality control including Aveva PI
- Familiarity with IIoT platforms and cloud-based monitoring solutions
- Scripting capabilities (Python, VBA, PowerShell) for data validation and automated reporting
- Experience with energy management systems and steam balance optimization
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices in industrial control systems (IEC 62443)
- Certifications: ISA CAP (Certified Automation Professional), or similar control systems certifications

Work mode: Work from office, General Shift.
This position requires travel to client sites once a month.
