Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Azure Database Administrator (L2) to manage and optimize Azure SQL Databases, Elastic Pools, and Managed Instances in a cloud-based production environment. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise in database performance tuning, automation, and security management within Azure environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Azure SQL Administration : Perform daily database health checks, monitor performance, and verify backups for Azure SQL Databases, Elastic Pools, and Managed Instances.
• Security & Compliance : Implement and maintain auditing, threat detection, data masking, and encryption (TDE) policies to ensure data protection.
• Access Management : Manage database authentication, user roles, and least-privilege permissions using Azure AD/Entra ID.
• Performance Optimization : Monitor DTU/vCore utilization, I/O metrics, and query execution plans; recommend indexing and scaling improvements.
• High Availability : Configure and maintain automated backups, geo-replication, and long-term retention settings for business continuity.
• Incident Management : Troubleshoot database connectivity, performance, and authentication issues within defined SLAs.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) : Document and communicate RCA findings for high-severity incidents, implementing preventive measures.
• Automation : Develop and maintain PowerShell, T-SQL, or Azure CLI scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.
• Monitoring & Alerting : Enhance proactive alerting and observability using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 3- 4 years of hands-on experience managing Azure SQL Databases, Elastic Pools, and Managed Instances.
• Strong proficiency in T-SQL scripting, performance tuning, and indexing strategies.
• Experience implementing backup, geo-replication, and retention configurations.
• Knowledge of auditing, encryption (TDE), and threat detection mechanisms.
• Exposure to incident management and RCA documentation in ITSM environments (ServiceNow, Jira ServiceDesk, etc.).
• Experience participating in on-call rotations for 247 database support operations.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Certifications in Microsoft Azure Database Administration or related domains will be an added advantage.
  
  

Additional Information

• This is a full-time, on-site position based in Bengaluru.
• Candidates with an immediate or short notice period (up to 30 days) will be preferred.
