Senior Backend Developer

Starboard Recruitment, on behalf of our client, is searching for an experienced Senior Backend Developer (Python/Terraform/AWS/REST) .

Our client is one of Vancouver's top Series-A, freshly funded, AI-integrated, tech startups with an innovative platform completely disrupting their space. Headcount is ~70 and growing.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and manage a rapidly evolving technology stack on a diverse set of platforms ranging from Django, Terraform for AWS infrastructure and others.
2. Design and develop state-of-the-art approaches to solving complex and ambiguous problems using cloud-based technologies.
3. Take ownership of backend feature development and maintenance from ideation to deployment.
4. Lead system design and architecture decisions for the product.
5. Propose innovative solutions to complex problems, considering scalability and maintainability for backend systems.
6. Ensure backend services are secure, performant and scalable.
7. Manage processes to maintain SOC2 compliance.
8. Ensure code adheres to best practices, established patterns, and quality and performance standards.
9. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., web, mobile) throughout the development lifecycle.
10. Understand team dependencies and drive alignment across interconnected projects.
11. Champion clean code practices within the team, ensuring code quality and maintainability for backend projects.
12. Mentor junior developers in code quality and best practices specific to backend development.
13. Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in the backend development landscape.
