The Role

We’re looking for a Founding Backend & Platform Engineer (India) — a hands-on builder who owns our server side and the Azure foundation it runs on.

You’ll manage and design robust .NET APIs, shape our data layer, run Azure DevOps and environments (dev/staging/QA/prod), and use Angular to deliver and maintain web surfaces (admin/ops panels and shared components). We are VM-first today; you’ll also lay the path to IaC and containers as we scale.

It’s a rare role that blends reliability, performance, and product sense: part backend engineer, part platform/DevOps, part pragmatic problem-solver.

You will

• Own APIs: Build and harden .NET 6/7/8 Web API/Core services with clean contracts, auth/RBAC, validation, rate limits, and OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Shape data: Design schemas, migrations, indexing; tune queries (Azure SQL or SQL Server); set up backups and restore drills.
• Run CI/CD: Author Azure DevOps (YAML) pipelines for build/test/deploy; approvals, gates, rollbacks; clear release notes.
• Keep environments healthy: Maintain dev/staging/QA/prod parity and safe promotions; manage Windows Server VMs (golden images, patching, JIT/Bastion, NSGs, TLS/certs); provision team/member VMs with tags, quotas, and cost guards.
• Make it observable & safe: Dashboards and alerts with Application Insights + Log Analytics; secrets in Key Vault; RBAC, audit trails, and monthly cost snapshots.
• Build in Angular: Deliver and maintain Angular (TypeScript) admin/ops panels and shared components; integrate APIs, routing/state, access controls; keep it fast and accessible.
• Prepare tomorrow: Introduce Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep) and ready the path to Azure Container Apps/AKS when the time is right.
• Collaborate well: Work closely with Product, Mobile (React Native), and AI (Python) to ship small, high-impact increments; write crisp docs/runbooks others can trust.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years total experience, including 3+ years building production .NET Web API/Core services.
• Strong SQL (Azure SQL or SQL Server): schema design, indexing, query tuning, migrations.
• Hands-on Azure DevOps (YAML) deploying to IIS on Azure VMs; Windows Server admin basics.
• Practical Azure ops: Key Vault, App Insights/Log Analytics, Azure Backup, JIT/Bastion, NSGs.
• Angular (TypeScript) proficiency to build and maintain admin/ops web surfaces.
• Ownership mindset, clear communication, low-ego collaboration.

Preferred background (a plus, not a gate): Tier-1 universities (IIT/NIT/BITS/IIIT) or equivalent; exposure to top global schools (Ivy/Oxbridge/CMU/etc.) and high-performing teams.

Nice to have

Terraform or Bicep; Docker and familiarity with Azure Container Apps/AKS; Redis, Service Bus, API Management, Front Door/CDN; OWASP and least-privilege hygiene.

Compensation & Work Model (India)

• Competitive for the India market. Additional equity or performance-based rewards may be considered based on impact and long-term fit.
• Work model: Remote to start, with required periodic in-person days in Ahmedabad; role is expected to transition to hybrid/in-office in Ahmedabad as the team scales.
