Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to drive the design, development, and operational excellence of scalable backend systems. In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of backend services, build reusable platform components, and ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of production systems.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams and play a key role in establishing engineering best practices, mentoring engineers, and driving service stability in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of scalable backend services and microservices.
  
• Own end-to-end delivery and lifecycle management of assigned backend services.
  
• Build new features, enhance existing systems, and ensure seamless production support.
  
• Develop reusable libraries, frameworks, and platform components to support multiple use cases.
  
• Define and promote best practices for coding, testing, deployment, and observability.
  
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Business, and other engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  
• Mentor and guide engineers by providing technical leadership and removing engineering roadblocks.
  
• Ensure service availability, scalability, security, and performance across cloud-based applications.
  
• Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise-grade RESTful APIs.
  
• Drive operational excellence by defining and owning SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs.
  
• Ensure high-quality code through strong unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews.
  
• Own and manage multiple microservices with a focus on reliability and maintainability.
  
• Perform deep-dive analysis of production issues, lead root cause analysis (RCA), and implement long-term preventive solutions.
  
• Provide L3/L4 production support and assist support teams with complex technical issues.
  
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, system metrics, and operational dashboards.
  

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in backend engineering or platform engineering roles.
  
• Strong expertise in designing and building scalable, distributed systems.
  
• Proven experience with microservices architecture and RESTful web services.
  
• Hands-on experience in production support, troubleshooting, and service reliability.
  
• Experience managing cloud-based applications with a strong focus on performance and security.
  
• Solid understanding of system observability, monitoring, and alerting.
  
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a metrics-driven mindset.
  
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor and influence engineers.
  
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana (ELK Stack).
  
• Hands-on experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ.
  
• Prior experience working in product-based companies.
  
• Strong exposure to microservices platforms and distributed systems.
  
• Passion for clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
