Senior BI Developer

Duration: Contact to Hire – Expected Permanent Conversion

• We are seeking a Senior BI Developer with deep expertise in Power BI , with a strong preference for experience in Microsoft Fabric . This role is not project‑based; instead, it focuses on developing proofs of concept, enhancing existing dashboards, and supporting ongoing ad hoc reporting needs.
• A current example includes updating an existing rebates dashboard to align with upcoming program changes that will impact calculations, metrics, and KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Enhance, optimize, and maintain existing Power BI dashboards, including complex calculations, business logic, drill‑downs, and cross‑filtering.
• Build and refine semantic models, including assessing current models and rebuilding them according to best practices.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to understand data availability, identify gaps, and articulate data needs—without performing hands‑on data engineering.
• Query data in Snowflake and/or Databricks to support reporting and model development.
• Create and maintain documentation for reports, metrics, calculations, and BI artifacts.
• Support a team that currently includes a business analyst with limited Power BI depth and a data engineer who has built foundational but patchwork data resources.

Qualifications

• Expert‑level DAX skills, including advanced calculations and business logic.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Experience querying data in Snowflake and/or Databricks (querying only; no engineering required).
• Proven ability to work directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver BI solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred, ideally in Computer Science or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Experience with Looker, particularly for customer‑facing reporting.
• DAX or Power BI certifications, with a preference for SQLBI certifications over standard Microsoft certifications.
