Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Bid Writer with deep expertise in government RFP responses to join our team. In this leadership role, you will develop compelling, technically sound, and fully compliant proposals that position our organization competitively in government procurement processes.

You will collaborate cross‑functionally, guide bid strategy, and ensure all proposal content meets the highest standards of accuracy, clarity, and impact. Your mastery of writing, editing, compliance, and industry research will directly influence our win rates and help secure major government contracts.

Key Responsibilities Proposal Development

  • Lead the creation of complete, high‑quality government proposals and RFP responses
  • Interpret government solicitation requirements and translate them into clear, persuasive narratives
  • Develop win themes, value propositions, and solution narratives tailored to each opportunity
  • Manage technical inputs from SMEs, project managers, and leadership teams

Editing & Quality Assurance

  • Conduct comprehensive proofreading, editing, and fact-checking
  • Ensure all submissions adhere to AP Style, Chicago Manual of Style, and agency‑specific formatting rules
  • Maintain consistent tone, accuracy, and compliance across all proposal materials

Research & Strategy

  • Research federal, state, and local government requirements, procurement trends, and competitive landscapes
  • Analyze past performance and technical documentation to create strong differentiators
  • Support pricing teams with narrative sections as needed

Project Management

  • Oversee multiple deadlines and simultaneous RFPs
  • Lead proposal kickoff meetings and coordinate inputs from cross-functional contributors
  • Ensure complete compliance with all solicitation requirements, forms, and certifications

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in government bid writing, proposal management, or technical writing
  • Mandatory relevant certifications, such as:
  • APMP Practitioner/Senior Practitioner (or equivalent)
  • Government proposal writing certifications (if applicable)
  • Demonstrated success managing large, complex government RFPs
  • Strong portfolio showing high-quality, persuasive government proposals
  • Exceptional writing, editing, copy-editing, and proofreading skills
  • Expertise in AP Style and the Chicago Manual of Style
  • Proficiency with proposal management tools and document systems
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Work samples are required during the screening process
