About the Company : We've been engaged by a large Australian financial institution to assist in the build-out of their Financial Markets Regulatory reporting software to support additional functionality required for Mifid 2 and G20 reporting (Dodd-Frank, ASIC, EMIR). This engagement is part of a multi-year project to expand the capabilities of the existing software to support the ongoing stream of new regulations impacting financial markets derivatives (FX, FXD, IRD, FI, ..).
About the Role : We require an experienced Business Analyst with strong knowledge of Regulatory Reporting and broad exposure to financial markets (Including derivative trades). You will be working as a subject matter expert in a team of developers and testers on a variety of tasks. You will also be a team leader of a small but growing multi-location team.
Responsibilities :
- Gather, analyze, and document regulatory and business requirements from stakeholders and regulators.
- Translate business needs into detailed functional and technical specifications for development teams.
- Support the design, development, and implementation of regulatory reporting solutions.
- Conduct impact assessments for new or revised regulations and identify required system changes.
- Collaborate with compliance, risk, operations, and technology teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Perform data analysis using SQL or similar tools to validate trade and reporting data.
- Participate in testing activities, including test case design, execution, and defect resolution.
- Bridge functional and technical teams by clarifying requirements, addressing queries, and ensuring alignment.
- Provide regular project status updates and maintain clear communication with senior stakeholders.
Qualifications :
- At least 4+ years of hands-on Business Analyst experience in financial markets, technology, and regulations.
Required Skills :
- Mandatory knowledge of MiFID or G20 regulations (strong preference for both).
- Proven experience working across both functional and technical teams on regulatory technology projects.
- Understanding of the end-to-end trade lifecycle and financial instruments such as IRS, Bonds, FX Cash, and FX Options.
- Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable system and data specifications.
- Good technical understanding of data structures, integration flows, and system dependencies.
- Working experience with SQL for data validation and analysis.
- Strong documentation skills with experience writing user stories and functional/technical specifications.
Preferred Skills :
- Exposure to additional regulatory frameworks such as EMIR, Dodd-Frank, SFTR, or MAS.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methods and tools like JIRA and Confluence.
- Experience with large-scale regulatory transformation or reporting platform migrations.
- Understanding of data models, reporting architectures, or BI tools used in regulatory reporting.
