Burns & McDonnell India (BMI) is seeking a Civil Designer to join our Environmental (ENS) Division in support of a wide variety of US-based projects. The ENS team supports engineering design and study efforts that include solid waste and resource recovery facilities, remediation sites, stormwater management structures, water/wastewater systems, utility facilities, and other municipal, industrial, and environmental infrastructure projects.
This role focuses on providing detailed civil design and drafting support using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related tools while working closely with Civil Engineers and multidisciplinary US project teams. The Civil Designer will support the development of high-quality design deliverables and the successful execution of projects under the technical direction of civil engineers.
**Responsibilities**
·Support civil and environmental design activities under the guidance of civil engineers from conceptual development through detailed design and construction support.
·Prepare and modify design drawings such as site layouts, grading plans, excavation drawings, utility plans and profiles, road plans and profiles, typical sections, cross sections, and general arrangement drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
·Develop detailed underground utility layouts, including stormwater, sewer, and infrastructure in accordance with municipal requirements, client standards, and project specifications.
·Utilize Civil 3D to create and edit pipe networks, alignments, profiles, parcels, corridors, feature lines, surfaces, and labels.
·Manage and reference Civil 3D data, including surfaces and alignments, and maintain drawing consistency in accordance with BIM and CAD standards.
·Perform roadway and site grading design tasks, including corridor modeling, subassemblies, finished grade development, and surface cleanup.
·Work closely with civil engineers to incorporate design direction, markups, and redlines into production drawings.
·Assist with interdisciplinary coordination and quality checks, and support resolution of design conflicts with other engineering disciplines.
·Support preparation, organization, and revision of engineering plans, exhibits, and project documentation.
·Collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to team knowledge-sharing.
**Qualifications**
·Diploma or ITI in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
·Minimum 2–7 years of experience in civil design and drafting for site/civil, water/wastewater, or environmental infrastructure projects.
·Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D, including utility modeling, surfaces, corridors, and plan/profile production.
·Familiarity with US civil design standards, drawing conventions, and US codes.
·Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
·Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to follow technical direction.
·Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively with US-based teams.
