Senior Data Scientist

At Capitole we continue to grow, and we are looking for a:

Senior Data Scientist to join an international client, based in Barcelona. You will work on challenging projects that require applying advanced metaheuristic techniques to find pseudo-optimal solutions to complex problems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs, translate them into mathematical models, and develop robust optimization algorithms.

As a Senior Data Scientist, your responsibilities will include:

• Develop and implement classical and metaheuristic optimization algorithms such as Genetic Algorithms (GA), PSO, SA, etc. . Solve complex mathematical problems by designing and implementing custom optimization solutions.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive the adoption of AI technologies, aiming to improve business outcomes, optimize operations, and foster a culture of innovation.
• Translate complex business rules into mathematical constraints for optimization problems. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and design solutions tailored to specific operational challenges
• Evaluate and fine-tune optimization algorithms to ensure they meet performance criteria. Perform sensitivity analyses to understand the impact of various constraints and parameters
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the performance and effectiveness of solutions, conducting regular assessments and making data-driven recommendations for improvement.

What you'll need:

• Degree (Bachelor or Master) in Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or similar areas.
• Proven ability to translate complex mathematical problems into actionable optimization algorithms.
• Proficiency in Python and data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Scipy), as well as optimization-focused libraries like PuLP, Pyomo, and metaheuristic frameworks such as Mealpy, DEAP and Optuna.
• Certifications in AI, data science, or project management (e.g., PMP, AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty) are a plus.
• Proficiency in English is a must
• Masters degree in Business Administration or Information Technology, advanced studies in Data Science/Analytics is desirable but not mandatory.
