Senior Database Administrator

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Support and maintain InvestClouds development, test and production database estate across numerous DB Technologies (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)

- Work as part of a wider support team to investigate and resolve production outages.

- Install and configure new database servers to an established standard and within agreed processes.

- Ensure adherence and maintenance of DR, Backup and Recovery procedures.

- Monitor database performance, and help support capacity planning

- Manage and maintain database security standards and controls.

- Troubleshoot and resolve data and performance related issues as required.

- Contribute to efforts around patching, upgrade and maintenance work.

- Ensure ticketing and change control processes are followed.

- Liaise with appropriate vendors to resolve/escalate database issues.

- Assist with continued automation of certain database related activities.

- Develop and maintain technical documentation of processes and standards.

- Work out of hours and weekends when needed or requested by management.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)

- At least 8 years of recent production database administration experience.

- Deep knowledge of at least one major RDBMS (e.g., Oracle ,SQL Server, PostgreSQL)

- Strong experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies

- Solid understanding of replication, clustering, and high availability technologies

- Practical experience in Database upgrades/migrations and patching

- Oracle database tuning and performance analysis skills

- Working knowledge of relevant monitoring and management tools

- Experienced working on a UNIX/Linux OS with capabilities in shell scripting

- Excellent analytical and problen solving skills, identifying root causes and offering solutions

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience with cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS)

- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified, Oracle Certified Professional, or similar

- Strong clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
