Senior Electrical Project Engineer – Mining / Heavy Industry

Location: Booragoon (6 months) and Huntley Mine, Dwellingup
Contract: 12 months, strong possibility of extension
Roster: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week
Rate:$115–$125 per hour, depending on experience

Lead Electrical Engineering on Mining Capital Projects Take ownership of the electrical engineering scope on multi-year capital projects in mining and heavy industry. This hands-on technical role involves coordinating design vendors, managing contractors, and ensuring all electrical systems meet specification, safety, and regulatory standards. Your expertise will directly influence project outcomes and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and coordinate electrical engineering scope across capital projects.
  • Develop, review, and approve electrical design documentation, scopes of work, and material take-offs.
  • Design and specify electrical systems including power distribution, MCCs, switchgear, and control systems.
  • Manage design vendors and contractors, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary teams during design, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including Australian Standards.
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate electrical systems into overall project design.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Experience on large capital projects in mining or heavy industry.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Proven ability to manage vendors and contractors.
  • Expertise in electrical engineering design, installation, and commissioning of complex industrial systems.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Must have full Australian working rights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional accreditation (Chartered Engineer / CPEng) desirable.
  • Experience with electrical design software and project documentation tools.
