Job Description

About Orbitt Space

Orbitt Space is a spacetech startup founded by ex-ISRO scientists and engineers , developing next-generation ion propulsion systems for ultra-low Earth orbit (ULEO ~200 km) satellites.

Our propulsion systems integrate high-voltage power electronics with DSP-based real-time control systems to achieve precise and stable plasma operation in orbit.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer with deep expertise in DSP programming for power electronics to lead firmware development for our propulsion power systems.

You will design and optimize control algorithms , PWM generation , and closed-loop DSP firmware for high-voltage converter systems, enabling efficient plasma control and spacecraft stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and maintain firmware for TI C2000x DSPs (F2837xD, F28004x, etc.).
  • Implement and tune closed-loop PID control for voltage and current regulation.
  • Design and manage PWM generation , ADC/DAC configuration , and interrupt-based control loops .
  • Develop bootloader firmware for modular and upgradable system architectures.
  • Simulate and validate control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink .
  • Integrate and test firmware with power electronics hardware , performing real-time debugging and tuning.
  • Lead HIL testing , firmware validation, and safety feature implementation.
  • Collaborate with hardware and systems teams to ensure closed-loop stability and performance.
  • Mentor junior engineers in firmware design, control algorithms, and system integration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation, or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in embedded firmware development for power electronics systems .
  • Proven experience with TI C2000x DSPs (e.g., F2837xD, F28004x series) for real-time control .
  • Strong proficiency in embedded C/C++ , Code Composer Studio , and bootloader development .
  • Expertise in PWM generation , ADC/DAC interfacing , interrupt handling , and closed-loop PID control .
  • Solid foundation in control theory , digital compensator design , and signal processing .
  • Ability to design and implement real-time firmware architectures for converter control.
  • Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink for control simulation and validation.
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and hardware integration skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with ARM-based microcontrollers for system-level coordination.
  • Familiarity with FPGA-based PWM or protection logic (VHDL/Verilog).
  • Experience with DC-DC converter control (buck, boost, resonant, full-bridge, or LLC).
  • Hands-on experience in power electronics hardware testing, validation, and debugging .
  • Understanding of fault protection , telemetry , and system safety mechanisms .
  • Exposure to high-voltage or aerospace-qualified electronic systems .
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI, UART, I2C, CAN).
  • Experience working in cross-functional R&D environments involving hardware and control systems.

Why Join Us

  • Work on flight-grade propulsion control systems for upcoming satellite missions.
