Overview

Oracle Exadata Cloud Service is one of the critical services in Cloud for enabling automation around Exadata database server life cycle. The engineer will solve complex problems related to infrastructure cloud services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence. Design, write, and deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services. Design and develop designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems. Facilitate service demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Customer Support, Operations & Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) on the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas.
  • Understand end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services.
  • Design and delivery of the mission-critical stack with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance.
  • Act as end-to-end performance and operability authority.
  • Partner with development teams to define and implement improvements in service architecture.
  • Articulate technical characteristics of services and guide Development Teams to add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud service portfolio.
  • Understand scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack.
  • Demonstrate understanding of automation and orchestration principles.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex or critical issues not yet documented as SOPs.
  • Utilize knowledge of service topology and dependencies to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations.
  • Explain the impact of product architecture decisions on distributed systems.
  • Develop deep understanding of services and technologies with professional curiosity.
  • Follow, build automation code in Python; Perl is also important for this role.

  • Basic Python, Java programming skills
  • Good understanding of Linux virtual environment (a plus)
  • Good understanding of Oracle Cloud (OCI) (a plus)
