Summary

The main purpose of this post is to provide day-to-day bookkeeping support for to the organisation; and to assist in the reporting and monitoring of grant for funded projects as per the objects of the Trust for the benefit of the underprivileged, destitute, victims of calamities and disasters, which include humanitarian relief & rehabilitation, provision of medical relief and aid during disaster, health care programs for strengthening services in education, health, human welfare.

You will be required to correct, process and reconcile a wide variety of accounting documents such as invoices, employee reimbursements, cash receipts, journal vouchers, make deposits into bank, compile and review reports for accuracy.


Job Description of the Position

Main areas of responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all day-to-day financial transactions in the accounting software, ensuring proper classification and supporting documentation.
  • Process and upload payments across multiple bank portals in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare periodic Bank Reconciliation Statements and resolve discrepancies, if any.
  • Prepare donor-wise utilization reports in line with grant agreements and reporting requirements.
  • Track expenses against budgets and prepare expense projections for effective financial planning and control.
  • Ensure timely computation, payment, and compliance of statutory dues including TDS, GST, PF, PT, and other applicable statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate and handle Internal Audits, External Audits, and Donor Audits, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and responses to audit queries.
  • Maintain and regularly update the Fixed Asset Register, including capitalization, depreciation, and physical verification records.
  • Assist in Income Tax assessments by preparing required documentation, schedules, and explanations as needed.
  • Prepare Income Tax computations for staff and calculate tax liabilities in compliance with applicable tax laws.
  • Analyze financial discrepancies, investigate variances, and identify root causes, recommending corrective actions where required.



Required Qualifications


Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelors Degree in Commerce.
  • Specialisation, honours, diploma in finance/accounts related field will be a plus
  • Experience as a finance and accounts assistant for 3-4 years
  • Experience of working as accounts assistant with not for profit organisation will be a plus
  • Expert working knowledge of Tally ERP 9

Desirable

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook. Organizational, verbal, and written communication skills a must
  • Attention to details and ability to multi-task will be an asset
  • Knowledge of charity accounting and fund accounting
  • Confidentiality and integrity
  • Financial and numeracy skills including high levels of accuracy
  • Strong organisational skills including proven ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • IT skills including a self-sufficiency using a range of software packages.
