Department Overview

Up until now, Rakuten has expanded its business scale with its shopping mall business "Rakuten Ichiba" and credit card business "Rakuten Card" at the core. Going forward, Rakuten envisions creating a new business model that will establish a stronger "Rakuten Ecosystem" encompassing offline life as well, by maximizing assets that have been cultivated primarily online, such as "Rakuten Members," "Rakuten Points," "Brand Power," and "Member Data."

Within this context, the Platform Strategy Department, directly overseen by the COO and Vice President, is responsible for working on the growth strategy and promotion of initiatives for the Rakuten Group's ecosystem.

Why We Hire

To further solidify the "Rakuten Ecosystem," we are seeking someone who can lead the front-end development of services and products related to the Rakuten Ecosystem (Membership). The evolution of these services and products is essential.

In particular, we are planning a project to overhaul the architecture, including the back-end of our core products, and are looking for someone who can take charge of the front-end architecture design.

Position Details

Please take the following duties about the front-end development.

- Implementation of new service/product

- Improvement of existing service/product, refactoring

- Please carry it on the person whom the suggestion that adopted the new technique of the front end, implementation experience have abundantly until the following duties as Engineer lead.

- The team management

- The architecture design, development environment construction

- Backend engineer and the API specifications design that performed co-operation

- The making of structure of quality securities such as a cord review, coding terms, the document maintenance

Mandatory Qualifications:

- More than 5 years of experience in front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

- Practical experience in development using meta-languages such as Sass

- Experience using various build tools (Vite, webpack, gulp, etc.)

- Versioning of code using Git

- Implementation of dynamic processes using APIs

- Communication skills to facilitate team development with directors and designers

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience as a technical director

- Deep understanding of front-end technical specifications

- Back-end development (PHP, Java, etc.)

- Know-how on performance improvement

- Experience participating in projects from the requirements definition phase

- Experience in managing a front-end development team

Additional information on English Qualification

TOEIC Score exceeding 800 (or similar level of English ability) or a University Degree earned in an English-speaking country.
