AAA open-world action-adventure co‑op game to be released on all next‑gen platforms.
Responsibilities
Looking for a talented and experienced Senior Gameplay Animator to define the visual tone and gameplay feel of movement and combat in our next‑gen co‑operative action title. You will be responsible for animating both playable characters and enemies, bringing energy and physicality to traversal, combat, and boss encounters.
In this hands‑on position, you will work closely with the design, engineering, and technical animation teams to ensure animations are seamlessly integrated with gameplay systems. Reporting to the Animation Director, you'll help shape the moment‑to‑moment experience by delivering responsive, expressive animation that enhances both gameplay and narrative.
- Create high‑quality real‑time animations for movement, combat, and gameplay responsiveness, across player characters, enemies, and bosses.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to integrate animations into gameplay systems, ensuring timing, feel, and flow meet gameplay requirements.
- Own animation features from early prototyping through to final polish, including transitions, blending, and responsiveness.
- Support motion capture sessions and refine mocap data while blending with key‑frame animation to enhance realism and performance.
- Participate in review and iteration cycles, incorporating feedback to continuously improve animation quality and consistency.
- Help define and document best practices for animation workflows and pipelines in Unreal Engine 5.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and mid‑level animators, supporting their growth in both creative and technical areas.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in real‑time game animation.
- Credited on at least one shipped third‑person AAA game.
- Strong command of animation principles including timing, weight, spacing, and performance in gameplay contexts.
- Proven ability to animate for movement systems, melee combat, enemy behaviour, and boss choreography.
- Skilled in Maya (or comparable 3D animation tools) with experience using Unreal Engine (UE5 preferred, UE4 acceptable).
- Collaborative and communicative mindset, with a proactive approach to creative and technical challenges.
