Role Summary

Dorleco is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer – VCU Development with strong experience in automotive electronics to lead and contribute to the design, development, validation, and production release of Vehicle Control Units (VCUs).
This role offers end-to-end hardware ownership, close cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on involvement with automotive quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead hardware architecture, design, and development of VCUs for ICE / EV / Hybrid applications.

  • Define system requirements and translate them into detailed hardware specifications (schematics, BOM, PCB layout constraints).

  • Design and review schematics involving MCUs/SoCs, SMPS/LDO power supplies, CAN/LIN/FlexRay/Ethernet, sensors, actuators, and protection circuits.

  • Guide and review multi-layer, high-speed, high-current, EMC-optimized PCB layouts.

  • Perform and support hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation activities.

  • Own DFMEA, HW FMEA, FMEDA, derating analysis, and worst-case analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and support ASIL hardware safety requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with AEC-Q standards, OEM requirements, and automotive environmental regulations.

  • Plan and execute hardware validation tests: electrical, thermal, EMC/EMI, ESD, surge, vibration, and reliability.

  • Interface with firmware, system, mechanical, and validation teams for smooth integration.

  • Support supplier selection, component qualification, and technical discussions with vendors.

  • Lead design reviews, documentation, and change management throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Support production ramp-up, failure analysis, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the hardware team.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics / Electrical / Embedded Systems Engineering.

  • 4+ years of experience in automotive hardware development, preferably VCU/ECU.

  • Strong expertise in automotive MCU/SoC-based designs.

  • Hands-on experience with power electronics (DC-DC converters, load switches, battery interfacing).

  • Good understanding of vehicle networks: CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet.

  • Experience with ISO 26262 functional safety at hardware level.

  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design practices and compliance testing.

  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium, OrCAD, Cadence, or equivalent).

  • Experience with hardware debugging tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DMM, power analyzer).

  • Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in EV / Hybrid vehicle architectures and high-voltage systems.

  • Familiarity with Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) processes.

  • Exposure to hardware cybersecurity concepts (HSM, secure boot, secure interfaces).

  • Experience working with OEMs / Tier-1 suppliers.

  • Knowledge of production testing, DFT, and DFM practices.
