Senior Java Software Engineer

Our client is a global consultancy seeking an experienced Java Developer, offering a 12 month rolling freelance opportunity to work within a large EU project team.

Description of Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and operate backend software applications with a strong focus on Java across multiple versions (including legacy and modern)
• Design, implement, and optimise RESTful APIs, microservices, and multi-tier backend architectures
• Perform code reviews, debugging, performance optimisation, and participate in unit, integration, and acceptance testing activities
• Participate in technical discussions, sprint activities, and meetings with stakeholders, including developers, project managers, and architects

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 7 years of professional backend software development experience, with strong hands-on expertise across multiple Java versions (including EJBs and modern Java)
