Senior JIRA Consultant

Job Title: Senior JIRA Consultant Role Purpose The Senior JIRA Consultant is responsible for leading the design, customization, and optimization of Atlassian JIRA solutions across the enterprise.

This role acts as a subject-matter expert, providing architectural guidance, advanced configuration, and governance for JIRA platforms supporting Agile, DevOps, and ITSM delivery models.

The consultant works closely with senior stakeholders, delivery teams, and platform owners to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performance JIRA implementations.

Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end JIRA solution design and implementation for complex enterprise programs Define and govern JIRA configuration standards, best practices, and operating models Architect and implement advanced workflows, automations, and permission models Lead JIRA integrations with CI/CD, DevOps, ITSM, and enterprise systems Provide expert-level JQL, reporting, and dashboard design for executive and delivery KPIs Oversee JIRA Cloud and/or Data Center migrations, upgrades, and performance tuning Act as escalation point for complex L3 issues and root cause analysis Mentor junior consultants and administrators Collaborate with Agile Coaches, DevOps teams, and PMOs to align tooling with delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) Ensure platform security, audit readiness, and compliance with enterprise policies Produce solution documentation, governance artifacts, and knowledge transfer materials Engage with business and IT leadership to shape roadmap and continuous improvement initiatives Required Skills & Experience 7–10+ years of experience working with Atlassian JIRA in enterprise environments Deep expertise in JIRA configuration, administration, and advanced customization Strong hands-on experience with JQL, Automation for JIRA, and scripting Expertise with ScriptRunner (Groovy) or Atlassian Forge / REST APIs Proven experience integrating JIRA with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps) Strong understanding of Agile, SAFe, DevOps, and ITSM frameworks Experience leading JIRA Cloud and/or Data Center implementations Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills Technical Skills Atlassian JIRA (Cloud & Data Center) JIRA Service Management, Confluence ScriptRunner, REST APIs, Forge JQL, advanced automation rules CI/CD and DevOps toolchains Reporting, dashboards, and analytics Qualifications & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field Atlassian certifications (ACP-100, ACP-120, ACP-620, or equivalent) strongly preferred SAFe or Agile certifications are a plus Nice to Have Experience in BFSI or other regulated industries Experience with security, audit, and compliance-driven implementations Experience defining enterprise tooling governance models Exposure to large-scale transformation programs Powered by JazzHR
