Job Overview
We are seeking engaging and dynamic Senior Training Facilitators to guide a group of 20-40 students through an immersive, live-action consulting case simulation program. This role is pivotal in fostering an interactive learning environment, moving beyond traditional instruction to encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and demonstration of consultative behaviors and mindsets that enhance our customers’ experience with our consulting workforce. The ideal candidate will use existing curriculum materials to manage the simulation, facilitate daily "customer" presentations, provide daily constructive feedback, and adapt the session flow to meet the learning objectives in real-time.
It will be for an initial contract of 6 months, can be extended up to 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate Interactive Learning: With a team of Senior Training Facilitators, lead and manage groups of 20-40 students in a simulation-based experience, ensuring high engagement and a psychologically safe learning environment.
- Guide Case Resolution: Support participants as they work through complex, live-action case scenarios, helping them to apply theoretical knowledge, explore decision-making processes, and solve customer needs using existing program materials and emphasizing consultative behaviors and mindsets.
- Manage Presentations & Feedback: Coordinate and provide structure for daily "client" presentations, facilitating the feedback process from "clients" (role-players or actual clients) and peers to promote self-discovery and skill improvement.
- Monitor Progress & Adapt: Observe participant actions and interactions, adapting the simulation and discussions to address knowledge gaps, manage conflict, and ensure all learning objectives are met. We expect Senior Training Facilitators to have significant past experience as management consultants, allowing them to bring personal experiences and stories to add richness and application to the students’ learning experience.
- Utilize Adult Learning Principles: Apply principles of adult learning theory and effective teaching strategies to maximize knowledge retention and practical skill application.
- Administer Materials: Maintain and manage records of curriculum, instructional materials, and learning equipment, ensuring all resources are prepared and available for sessions.
- Evaluate Effectiveness: Gather qualitative and quantitative feedback from participants and "customers" to assess program effectiveness and recommend future improvements to the curriculum or process.
- Be Flexible: A great attitude and the willingness to dive in and help with whatever is needed is a critical success factor for the ideal candidate
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Calling on Experience: Proven experience as a training facilitator, instructor, or a similar role, ideally within a simulation or experiential learning environment. Proven experience in successful client-facing delivery within a top-tier management consulting firm. Should be able to draw on personal consulting project experiences to illustrate learning points (without naming clients or violating NDAs from past employers). Consulting experience for this skill level would probably be 7-10+ years, but exceptions may be considered
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability to listen actively, paraphrase ideas for clarity, and summarize outcomes.
- Facilitation: Expert-level skills and ability to motivate a large newly formed team of students to acquire and demonstrate new consultative behaviors and mindsets critical to management consulting.
- Training Techniques/Experience: Expert-level knowledge of learning techniques (this is not formal classroom (this is live learning and simulation);
ability to stop proceedings to call out key learning points and make them real for the participants. - Adaptability & Problem-Solving: The ability to think on your feet, creatively solve problems, and adjust plans in real-time based on group dynamics, knowledge and understanding of clients’ motivations and culture, and unexpected situations.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport, inspire motivation, and foster a collaborative and respectful learning community.
- Professionalism/Gravitas: Ability to interact with all levels of our organization, for junior new hires to the C-suite.
- Content Knowledge: Deep understanding of the subject matter relevant to the case simulations, or the ability to quickly become a subject matter expert (SME).
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with typical interactive business software.
- Education: Certifications in coaching, mentoring, large group facilitation and/or academic degrees in related business topics, especially MBAs would be a plus
