About the Role

At Nekko, we are looking for a hands-on Senior Machine Learning Engineer to bridge the gap between technical execution and team leadership. In this hybrid role, you will architect scalable AI solutions using AWS, contribute high-quality code as a core developer, and mentor our growing team of AI/ML Associates.

You will drive the technical direction for our Computer Vision and Generative AI initiatives, ensuring our models are not only accurate but production-ready and cost-optimized.

Key Responsibilities

• Help design and develop the next generation of ML, NLP & GENAI products, and AI based services for healthcare & Pharmacy division
• Technical Architecture & Development (60% IC)
• End-to-End Ownership: Design, build, and deploy production-grade ML pipelines for Computer Vision (YOLO/OpenCV) and Generative AI (AWS Bedrock) tasks.
• Cloud Architecture: Architect serverless and containerized solutions using AWS Lambda, EC2, and S3, ensuring scalability and cost-efficiency.
• MLOps Implementation: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for ML models; manage model versioning, drift monitoring, and retraining loops.
• Optimization: Optimize model inference time and resource usage for real-time applications.

2. Team Leadership & Strategy (40% Management)

• Mentorship: Lead code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor AI/ML Associates to improve their coding standards and problem-solving skills.
• Technical Strategy: Translate high-level business objectives into technical roadmaps and actionable engineering tasks.
• Best Practices: Establish standards for code quality, documentation, and testing within the AI team.
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to define feasibility and timelines for AI projects.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.

Experience: 4–6 years of total industry experience, with at least 3 years strictly focused on deploying ML models in production.

Leadership: Proven experience (formal or informal) leading small teams, conducting code reviews, or managing project deliverables.

Required Skills (The \"Must-Haves\")

• Core ML/CV: Expert proficiency in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and Computer Vision libraries (OpenCV, YOLO, CVAT, Roboflow).
• AWS Cloud Native: Deep experience with the AWS ecosystem, specifically Bedrock (GenAI), SageMaker, Lambda, and EC2.
• Production Engineering: Strong grasp of Docker, API development (FastAPI/Flask), and database integration.
• MLOps: Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Jenkins) and model monitoring.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience optimizing costs for cloud-based ML workloads.
• Background in video analytics or object detection at the edge.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
