Purpose and Scope of position

This position contributes to Starbucks’ success by:


Lead Tax for the organization including tax strategy, compliance, litigation, audits.

Summary of Key Responsibilities


Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to:


Taxation:

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Leads the Tax function at the entity level under DT & IDT

  • Delivers tax strategy plan; design, communication and execution – in line with Tata Starbucks Strategy

  • Ensures efficiency and transparency of tax processes and systems.

  • Ensures sound decision making on tax-related matters at the overall level.

  • Acts as the DT & IDT expert & oversees other DT & IDT managers for policy, planning, litigation management & continuous improvement.

  • Manages relationships with tax authorities & tax partners.

  • Encourages and promotes a culture of creativity, discipline and people connect. Promotes and foster a team culture consistent with the organization’s values.
  • Essential role duties:
  • Advises the entity on tax policies and directives

  • Coordinates with tax team on tax planning and ensures central policy implementation for Tata Starbucks

  • Leads appeals and tax litigation – responsible for tax decisions on negotiations on an entity level

  • Represents Tata Starbucks towards local Tax authorities, conducts tax reviews

  • Provide advice on tax related matters to Finance Team, including tax optimization across the entity

  • Owns timely and proper execution of tax reporting & compliance

  • Assesses tax risks and compliance

  • Leads Tata Starbucks tax team.

  • Consults on tax audits

  • Provides tax support on transaction structuring & contracts

  • Coordinates transfer pricing compliance, documentation, and implementation

  • Creates tax awareness and provides tax training to the business

  • Works with CFO to ensure compliance with accounting policies and statutory obligations

  • Exhibits a strong focus on people development within own area and consistently improves capabilities and engagement in the direct and indirect team

  • Summary of Experience & Education


    Qualification

  • Chartered Accountant or MBA in Corporate Finance
  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 10+years’ experience in field of taxation

  • Experience of leading Direct Taxation & Indirect Taxation function

  • Exposure in International Taxation

  • Knowledge of global & Indian capital markets, their structure, participants and the instruments traded on them

  • Knowledge of financial control or other corporate treasury department

  • Assertive and persuasive in communication

  • Experienced in influencing multi-disciplinary teams and in people management
