Senior Manager, Personal Debt Solutions – BDO Canada

We’re looking for a Senior Manager to join our Personal Debt Solutions team in Edmonton, Alberta. This role focuses on consumer bankruptcy and proposal work, delivering high-quality client service and driving growth.

Responsibility

  • Manage consumer bankruptcy and proposal files
  • Provide advice on bankruptcy laws, conduct debtor assessments, and oversee asset recovery (including acting as Receivers)
  • Supervise staff, delegate tasks and manage projects
  • Maintain communications with debtors, creditors, the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy, and courts through creditor meetings, reports, and court attendance
  • Identify, target, and develop referral sources
  • Participate in practice development assignments; travel to other BDO offices and satellite locations as required
  • Assist with managing court files and taxation of fees

Experience & Education

  • 5+ years in insolvency, primarily consumer work
  • Strong knowledge of insolvency rules, laws, procedures
  • Fully Licensed Insolvency Trustee (CIRP)
  • Accounting designation (CPA-CA/CPA-CMA/CPA-CGA) is an asset
  • Ability to prioritize, manage workload flexibly; evening hours may be required
  • Willingness to travel to cover satellite offices
  • Commitment to teamwork, client service, and quality
