THE ROLE At Bombay Sweet Shop, sales is not just a revenue function, it is how we spread the joy of Indian sweets to the world. As Senior Manager Sales & Business Development, you will play a pivotal leadership role within the sales function. Working closely with the Head of Business Development, you will help shape strategy while taking direct ownership of team enablement, process excellence, and the execution of large, complex, high-impact deals. This role sits at the intersection of people leadership, business development, and operational rigour. You will be expected to actively strengthen how sales and business development operate - identifying gaps, driving meaningful process improvements, embedding them consistently, and ensuring they sustain over time. Equally important, you will serve as a strong support system for the sales team: coaching them, enabling confident performance, and ensuring every client experience reflects the quality, warmth, and ambition of Bombay Sweet Shop. WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SALES LEADERSHIP & TEAM ENABLEMENT Supervise and support the gifting sales team, ensuring clarity of roles, priorities, and expectations Act as the primary point of support for the team on live deals, client conversations, and escalations Coach team members on sales approach, client handling, structuring proposals, and follow-ups Conduct regular check-ins, pipeline discussions, and problem-solving sessions with the team Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of team members Identify individual and team-level training needs and work with leadership to address them Create an environment where the team feels supported, accountable, and confident to perform PROCESS OWNERSHIP & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT Take ownership of end-to-end gifting sales processes, from lead intake to fulfilment handover Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and recurring issues in existing workflows Propose, implement, and document improved processes in collaboration with relevant teams Ensure processes are clearly communicated and consistently followed by the sales team Monitor adherence and make iterative improvements as the business evolves Act as the custodian of gifting sales SOPs, ensuring they remain current and relevant Actively drive process change where needed, not just follow existing systems BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & LARGE DEAL OWNERSHIP Support the Head of Business Development in identifying and developing new gifting opportunities Personally handle or co-own large, complex, or strategically important deals and clients Lead high-value corporate and institutional accounts that require senior attention Step in on sensitive, time-critical, or high-risk orders to ensure smooth execution Build long-term relationships with key clients to drive repeat and incremental business Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and deeper partnerships SEASONAL GIFTING & STRATEGIC EXECUTION Play a key role in planning and executing major seasonal gifting moments (Diwali, Rakhi, Christmas, etc.) Work closely with product, design, and marketing teams on gifting collections, pricing structures, and client-facing proposals and pitch materials Ensure that gifting offerings are aligned with brand standards, margins, and operational feasibility Anticipate risks during peak periods and proactively plan for them CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COORDINATION & OPERATIONAL OVERSIGHT Ensure clean, timely handovers from sales to fulfilment, billing, and operations Work closely with operations, design, finance, and marketing to ensure alignment Flag issues early and solve collaboratively, rather than reactively Maintain high standards of detail, accuracy, and follow-through across all gifting orders WHO YOU ARE A strong people leader who enjoys coaching, supporting, and growing teams A problem-solver who thrives in a fast-moving, creative environment Comfortable owning responsibility and stepping in when things get complex or high-pressure Process-oriented, with the ability to spot gaps and implement sustainable solutions Commercially sharp, with a clear understanding of relationship-led, B2B-heavy sales and excited by the challenge of scaling a premium gifting business without losing its soul. Understands that leadership means enabling the team to sell, not being the sole closer Highly organized, detail-driven, and calm under pressure Confident working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, creative environment Equally comfortable thinking strategically and executing on the ground SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 6-9 years of experience in sales or business development 2-3+ years in a people management or supervisory role Prior experience in gifting, luxury retail, hospitality, food & beverage, events, or premium consumer brands preferred Strong experience handling B2B / corporate clients and high-value orders Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills Proven ability to improve processes and drive consistency across teams WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role is critical to ensuring that Bombay Sweet Shops gifting & B2B business scales without losing quality, consistency, or soul.
