Job Description

Company:

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Key Responsibilities: Perform advanced Mould Flow Analysis focusing on optical plastics (PMMA, PC, PC+ABS), predicting potential moulding defects such as birefringence, stress concentrations, shrinkage, warpage, and surface quality issues critical for optical clarity.
Conduct detailed Thermal Simulations to evaluate cooling efficiency, cycle time optimization, and thermal stresses within tooling and moulded parts, especially for transparent and optical-grade plastics.
Collaborate closely with design and tooling teams to recommend design modifications that improve moldability, optical quality, and manufacturability of lighting components.
Support tool trials by monitoring and analysing moulding conditions, optical quality, and dimensional accuracy; validate simulation predictions with physical trial results.
Analyse tool trial data and troubleshoot process issues related to plastic flow, cooling, and part quality, with a focus on optical performance.
Maintain accurate documentation of simulation models, trial data, and process improvements.
Work cross-functionally with R&D, production, quality, and suppliers to integrate simulation-driven improvements into the product development and manufacturing process.
Stay current with the latest developments in simulation tools, optical plastic behaviour, and automotive lighting manufacturing technologies. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering/Plastics Engineering/Materials Science/thermal engineering / CIPET or related field.
Minimum 15 years of experience in Product design, Tool design, DFM, DFA and Mould Flow Analysis with emphasis on optical plastics like PMMA, PC, PC+ABS.
Experience in interior and exterior Lamp design, regulatory requirements, Lamps application.
Experience using Moldflow, Moldex3D, or equivalent software for plastic injection moulding simulations.
Strong expertise in thermal simulation related to tooling and plastic moulding.
Hands-on experience with tool trials, moulding optimization, and interpreting trial data.
Familiarity with automotive lighting manufacturing processes and quality standards.
Knowledge of material behaviour of optical plastics and its impact on product performance.
Proficient with CAD software and other engineering tools.
