Job Description

Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (8-12 yrs)

Location: Bangalore

Employment Type: Full-Time and onsite

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (L3/L4) with strong expertise in the design and development of semiconductor equipment and Special Purpose Machines (SPM). This role

requires hands-on technical depth combined with design ownership, where the engineer will lead

concept development, detailed engineering, integration, validation, and provide guidance to junior

engineers while working closely with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and execute conceptual, basic, and detailed mechanical design for semiconductor tools and SPMs.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations related to strength, stiffness, thermal considerations, and sizing of mechanical components.
  • Design structural frames, machine enclosures, and precision assemblies meeting performance and safety requirements.
  • Apply dimensional stack-up and tolerance analysis to ensure functional assembly and precision.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of engineering materials, surface treatments, and material compatibility for cleanroom and semiconductor environments.
  • Design gas packaging enclosures, vacuum assemblies, and sealed systems, including inert gas purging (Nā‚‚) concepts.
  • Apply expertise in seals and sealing technologies suitable for vacuum and controlled-atmosphere applications.
  • Select and design conveyors, drives, and motion mechanisms using sound engineering practices.
  • Support integration of mechanical systems with sensors, actuators, and automation hardware.
  • Work with and integrate process and environmental sensors, including oxygen sensors, nitrogen flow control, temperature, clean dry air (CDA), and humidity sensors.
  • Ensure proper routing, mounting, and serviceability of utilities within machine designs.
  • Create and manage complex 3D models and large assemblies, ensuring clash-free integration with electrical and controls systems.
  • Produce high-quality 2D drawings with GD&T and manufacturing notes, following drafting standards.
  • Use simulation tools (FEA / CFD) to validate structural integrity, airflow, and thermal behavior, reducing physical iterations and development time.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, and change records.
  • Work within PDM/PLM systems to manage revisions, configurations, and lifecycle data .
  • Mentor and technically guide L1/L2 engineers, providing design reviews and best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical, controls, process, manufacturing, and suppliers.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong expertise in structural design, materials, sealing systems, vacuum and gas-handling assemblies.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or equivalent) and drafting standards.
  • Working knowledge of simulation tools for structural and CFD analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Good to Have:

  • Experience in cleanroom / semiconductor tool design
  • Knowledge of UL / CE compliance and industrial safety standards
  • Exposure to DFMEA, tolerance stack-up tools, and design standardization
