Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.

Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in EV, battery systems, electronics, or automotive industries.



Job Summary

We are hiring a highly experienced Mechanical Design Head (R&D) to lead and manage our mechanical design function across research and development activities. This role is responsible for driving product innovation, design excellence, and technical robustness through effective planning, execution, and review of mechanical design projects. The position plays a critical role in ensuring cross-functional collaboration, timely delivery of R&D programs, and successful transition of designs from concept to production.


Key Duties & Responsibilities


Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the mechanical design team;
    assign tasks and track progress on R&D projects (Regular).
  • Define and implement mechanical design strategies, standards, and best practices for R&D (Periodic).
  • Plan and monitor R&D project timelines, resources, and deliverables to meet organizational goals (Regular).

Design & Development

  • Oversee concept development, detailed design, and validation of new products (Periodic).
  • Guide prototype development, testing, and design validation activities (Periodic).
  • Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation (Occasional).
  • Conduct tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA reviews, and design validations to ensure manufacturability and quality (Regular).
  • Perform thermal and structural simulations (FEA, CFD) to optimize mechanical designs (Regular).
  • Select appropriate materials considering strength, weight, corrosion resistance, and thermal performance (Regular).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Ensure effective integration and coordination with electrical, electronics, software, and manufacturing teams (Occasional).
  • Coordinate closely with electrical, electronics, and process teams during product development (Occasional).
  • Support pilot production and manufacturing trials for new designs (Regular).

Testing, Analysis & Risk Management

  • Analyze test results and implement design improvements (Occasional).
  • Conduct failure analysis and root cause analysis (RCA) for mechanical issues (Occasional).
  • Participate in design reviews, FMEA, and risk assessment meetings (Regular).

Technical Support

  • Provide technical support to production, quality, and service teams to resolve design-related issues (Regular).

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Expertise in sheet metal design, plastic injection molding, die casting, and thermal systems
  • Strong understanding of IP ratings, EMI shielding, and high-voltage safety enclosure design
  • Proficiency in GD&T, manufacturing tolerances, and mechanical testing standards
