Job Description

About the Role

We are developing advanced physical products that require strong mechanical engineering capabilities, precision, and rapid execution. The Mechanical R&D Engineer will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and validating high-performance mechanical systems. This role involves hands-on engineering work, rapid iteration, and close collaboration across disciplines. It requires the ability to convert concepts into functional prototypes and refined engineering solutions.

---

Key Responsibilities

1. Mechanical Design & CAD Engineering

· Develop high-precision 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks.

· Design complex mechanisms, enclosures, actuators, and high-tolerance components.

· Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and ensure manufacturability and engineering integrity for production.

2. Rapid Prototyping & Experimental Builds

· Translate design concepts into functional prototypes using 3D printing, machining, sheet-metal fabrication, molding, and other processes.

· Assemble, modify, test, and refine prototypes through multiple iteration cycles.

· Collaborate with electronics, firmware, and cross-functional teams for integrated proof-of-concept builds.

3. Design for Performance & Reliability

· Engineer systems to withstand thermal loads, vibrations, shock, environmental conditions, and long-term usage.

· Conduct structural, thermal, and modal simulations using FEA tools to validate and optimize designs.

· Lead mechanical root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions and performance improvements.

4. Manufacturing & Supplier Collaboration

· Work with suppliers for machining, injection molding, sheet metal, casting, and other manufacturing processes.

· Prepare production-ready drawings, GD&T specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

· Optimize designs for DFM and DFA while maintaining performance and design objectives.

5. Innovation & Problem Solving

· Develop innovative mechanisms and user-centric mechanical solutions.

· Explore new materials, fabrication techniques, and manufacturing processes.

· Contribute to the mechanical architecture of next-generation product platforms.
