Senior Mechanical Engineer

Overview

Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer at a cutting-edge aerospace development company that designs and manufactures high-performance products. This full-time, Adelaide-based position requires Australian citizenship due to defence project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mechanical design office, supporting and mentoring a team of engineers and designers.
• Oversee the design and development of mechanical systems including actuator arms, gearboxes, and aircraft structural assemblies.
• Ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with electronics, avionics, and composite structures.
• Drive design reviews, design documentation, and continuous improvement practices across the team.
• Maintain a hands-on presence when needed—supporting prototyping, fault-finding, and system testing.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, manufacturing, and leadership teams to align technical outcomes with broader project goals.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in mechanical design for complex systems (e.g., UAVs, aircraft, robotics, or automotive platforms).
• Demonstrated leadership or team management experience in an engineering environment.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD tools) for 3D modeling and mechanical systems design.
• Practical knowledge of prototyping, fabrication, and testing of mechanical systems.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Desirable

• Aerospace engineering background with mechanical design experience.
• Knowledge of lightweight structural design and materials (e.g., composites, alloys).
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes for precision mechanical components.
