Our Opportunity
Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth
The role of the Senior Mechanical Engineer is to provide technical support using initiatives and applying engineering techniques, data analysis, improvement projects and defect elimination for the operational Ore Processing Facility. The role also entails leading a small team of Mechanical Engineers to prioritise manage their day-to-day work and provide adhoc supervision to the CHF Engineering team/cover department Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support engineers by providing technical guidance, problem-solving expertise, and fostering a strong team culture
- Provide ad hoc Engineering and Reliability Superintendent coverage, including weekend support as required
- Manage short- to medium-term operational projects, maintenance strategies, SWI development, and critical spares support
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis and 5 Whys investigations for plant downtime and reliability events
- Liaise with cross-functional departments to deliver safe, effective technical and operational solutions
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards, Change Management processes, quality assurance, and area budget targets
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in fixed plant engineering and/or project roles
- Proven experience leading and performance-managing teams
- Demonstrated experience in hard rock mining environments
- Strong technical knowledge of fixed plant equipment including crushers, screens, slurry pumps, conveyors, chutes, baghouses, and cyclones
- Working knowledge of mining legislation, regulations, and computerised maintenance systems (e.g. SAP)
