About the Role
Join us as a Senior Mechanical Lead and take charge of building and leading a high‑performing Mechanical Engineering team within a Global Capability Center (GCC). In this role, you will drive end‑to‑end mechanical engineering deliverables across Pre‑Basic, Basic, and Detail Engineering phases for global industrial and process engineering projects.
You will serve as the central point of coordination between global onshore engineering teams and offshore engineering teams in India. Your responsibilities include delivering high‑quality mechanical design, equipment specification, vendor evaluation, technical documentation, and cross‑discipline engineering alignment across Process, Layout, Piping, Procurement, and Project Engineering functions.
This is a strategic engineering leadership role for those who excel in mechanical equipment engineering, global stakeholder management, team leadership, and engineering standardization within a GCC model.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Mechanical Engineers within the GCC.
- Manage resource allocation, workload balancing, and technical capability building.
- Represent the GCC in global mechanical engineering forums and working groups.
- Drive engineering harmonization, standardization, and best‑practice adoption.
Mechanical Engineering Execution
Oversee and guide the delivery of key mechanical engineering tasks:
- Mechanical design, specification, and integration of process equipment such as:
- Pressure vessels
- Columns & towers
- Heat exchangers
- Static and rotating equipment
- Agitators, machinery, and mechanical systems
- Preparation and review of datasheets, equipment specifications, tender documents, vendor evaluations, and engineering reports.
- Support definition, planning, and execution of equipment‑related engineering work packages.
- Provide expert input during evaluation of service provider proposals and outsourcing scopes.
Project Interface & Communication
- Act as the primary Mechanical Engineering point of contact for global stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Process, Layout, Piping, and Procurement disciplines to ensure seamless engineering integration.
- Align mechanical requirements with process specifications, layout constraints, and project standards.
- Ensure timely communication and alignment with global project teams.
Quality, Compliance & Standards
- Ensure mechanical engineering deliverables meet international codes and standards (ASME, EN, DIN, PED, API, etc.).
- Establish quality benchmarks for mechanical engineering documents, models, and data.
- Support construction and commissioning phases with technical clarifications and documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement and adherence to engineering governance frameworks.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
Experience
- 15+ years in mechanical/equipment engineering within chemical, petrochemical, process, or industrial plant engineering sectors.
- Proven experience delivering complex, large‑scale engineering projects across global environments.
- Experience leading multicultural teams and collaborating with international stakeholders.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in mechanical equipment design, equipment integration, and engineering specifications.
- Experience preparing and reviewing datasheets, specification sheets, vendor evaluations, and procurement‑related documents.
- Familiarity with digital engineering workflows, mechanical QA/QC processes, and technical assurance.
- Exposure to engineering tools such as COMOS, E3D, SAP, or similar platforms.
Leadership & Communication
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team development abilities.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross‑functional coordination skills.
- Ability to lead global technical discussions and represent the mechanical discipline.
- Excellent communication skills in English;
additional languages are a plus. - High intercultural competence and ability to work effectively with international teams.
