The Role

As the Senior or Mine Geologist, you will play a key role in establishing geological processes for these new BIF hosted gold deposits. You will be responsible for overseeing ore mining activities, dilution management, geological mapping, and providing timely, high‑quality geological support to mine planning, as well as the development of geological and grade models. Your work will directly influence ore recovery, dilution control, and the safe, efficient development of the open pits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily mining activities, including mark‑ups, dig plans, and ore/waste delineation.
  • Conduct detailed geological mapping, sampling, and structural interpretation.
  • Maintain geological and grade models, ensuring accurate and timely updates for mine planning.
  • Work closely with survey, engineering, and operations teams to optimise ore extraction and minimise dilution.
  • Oversee grade control drilling programs, including design, QA/QC, and reconciliation.
  • Prepare geological reports, reconciliations, and end‑of‑month reports.
  • Support the development of geological systems, databases, and workflows for a new operation.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Provide input towards relevant daily, weekly and monthly reconciliation and compliance routines.
  • Mentor and guide Pit Technicians to develop best practice deposit specific ore spotting systems to minimise dilution when and where possible.
  • Provide SME advice and direction to mining engineers to ensure geology is at the forefront of mining strategy and execution decision.
  • Ensure company delivers programmes and targets are met in a safe and professional manner.
  • Technical input and the ability to influence and drive outcomes.

About You

  • Degree in Geology.
  • Experienced with open pit gold mining, ideally with BIF hosted and/or structurally complex deposits.
  • Strong capability with geological modelling and grade control software (Surpac, Deswik).
  • Practical understanding of dilution control, sampling, and reconciliation processes.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a small‑team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • A commitment to safety, accuracy, and operational discipline.
