Job Purpose
The Senior Network Architect is responsible for the end-to-end architecture, design, governance, and lifecycle management of the enterprise network, including SD-WAN, Cloud OnRamp,
Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Zero Trust, Zscaler platforms, and Unified
Communications technologies such as Microsoft Teams. This role ensures secure, scalable, and high-performance connectivity across LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, data center, cloud, wireless, and collaboration environments.
The Senior Network Architect serves as a strategic technical leader, partnering with IT leadership, Enterprise/Solutions Architects, Infrastructure Project Managers, Security, and Collaboration teams to align network, cloud connectivity, security, and real-time communications architectures with enterprise business objectives.
This position operates primarily in a Plan/Build/Operate model (80% Planning, 20%
Build/Operate) and provides technical leadership and mentorship to the Network Services team.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture, Strategy & Governance
Provide enterprise-wide oversight and governance across all network domains, including WAN, SD-WAN, Cloud OnRamp, Zscaler, Zero Trust, and Unified Communications, ensuring architectural integrity, performance, and compliance. Define and maintain network architecture principles, standards, and reference designs aligned with the enterprise future-state vision, including SD-WAN, SASE, and collaboration-ready network architectures. Develop network and connectivity roadmaps supporting cloud adoption, SaaS delivery, branch transformation, and enterprise collaboration initiatives. Evaluate the current-state network, security, and collaboration portfolio, identify technical debt, and define lifecycle and modernization strategies. SD-WAN, Network, Cloud & Collaboration Design
Architect and design secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions for LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, Cloud OnRamp, cloud-native networking, and collaboration platforms. Lead the design and implementation of SD-WAN architectures, including applicationaware routing, resiliency, segmentation, centralized policy enforcement, and direct-tocloud access. Design and implement Cloud OnRamp solutions to optimize connectivity between branch locations, data centers, and cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP). Architect network designs optimized for Microsoft Teams, UCaaS, and real-time collaboration workloads, including QoS, latency, jitter, packet loss mitigation, and traffic prioritization. Integrate SD-WAN with Zscaler ZIA, ZPA, and Cloud Firewall to enable secure, performant access to SaaS, private applications, and collaboration services. Security, Zscaler & Zero Trust
Design and enforce Zero Trust network architectures leveraging Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), and Zscaler Cloud Firewall, integrated with SDWAN and cloud connectivity. Ensure secure access patterns for SaaS, IaaS, private applications, and Microsoft Teams using identity-aware, policy-driven controls. Perform network, SD-WAN, cloud, and collaboration-related security assessments and risk analyses. Automation, Operations & Support
Drive automation for SD-WAN provisioning, Cloud OnRamp deployments, Zscaler policy management, and network lifecycle operations. Act as the escalation point for complex SD-WAN, cloud connectivity, Zscaler, and Microsoft Teams network performance issues. Provide guidance on advanced troubleshooting, performance tuning, and root-cause analysis across hybrid, cloud, and collaboration environments. Leadership, Collaboration & Communication
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to network engineers and architects, with a strong focus on SD-WAN, cloud networking, Zero Trust, and collaboration-aware network design. Collaborate with Cloud, Security, DevOps, and Collaboration / UC teams to ensure seamless, high-quality user experiences. Communicate complex networking, cloud, security, and collaboration concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Documentation & Reporting
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including SD-WAN, Cloud OnRamp, Zscaler, and Microsoft Teams network architecture diagrams, standards, and SOPs. Provide regular reporting on network, SD-WAN, and collaboration performance, incidents, risks, and strategic initiatives. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Systems Analysis, or related field, or equivalent experience. 10+ years of experience designing and supporting enterprise network and infrastructure solutions. 10+ years of experience with data center networking (Cisco Nexus, VXLAN, ASR/ISR). Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing SD-WAN architectures in large enterprise environments. Experience designing hybrid and cloud connectivity solutions, including Cloud OnRamp technologies. Hands-on experience implementing and supporting Zscaler ZIA, ZPA, and Cloud Firewall. Experience designing networks to support Microsoft Teams and real-time collaboration platforms, including QoS and traffic optimization. Proven ability to translate business requirements into secure, scalable network and cloud architecture. Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills. Preferred Qualifications
CCIE (Routing & Switching or Data Center), CISSP, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of cloud networking experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP). 5+ years of experience with SD-WAN, Cloud OnRamp, WAN optimization, load balancers, wireless LAN, NAC, and Zero Trust architectures. Experience integrating SD-WAN with SASE and Zscaler-based security models. Experience supporting Microsoft Teams, UCaaS, CCaaS, or Cisco Unified Communications environments. 3+ years of experience with Cisco ACI or other SDN platforms. Experience with enterprise firewalls and security platforms (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Zscaler). Experience with network monitoring, observability, and SIEM tools (SolarWinds, Splunk, Sentinel).
