Senior Occupational Therapist - Child and Family Agency, Kerry

Cpl Healthcare, in partnership with the Child and Family Agency, are seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join a new dedicated therapeutic team, playing a pivotal role in shaping and delivering this much-needed service. This is a unique opportunity to join at the very beginning, helping develop the model, structures, and therapeutic approach that will support children and young people across Kerry for years to come.

As Senior Occupational Therapist, you will work directly and indirectly with children and young people in Residential Care, Foster Care and the wider community, collaborating alongside Social Workers, Social Care Workers, Domestic Violence Practitioners, Family Support Workers and other key professionals. Your clinical expertise will be central to improving outcomes for children who have experienced adversity, trauma, or disruptions in care.

Key Responsibilities


  • Provide therapeutic assessment, intervention and clinical reasoning for children/young people with diverse and complex needs.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary therapeutic team to ensure coordinated care planning.
  • Assess occupational performance needs within the child’s family, home, social and school environments.
  • Apply and adapt suitable therapeutic approaches supporting children presenting with trauma- or welfare-related difficulties.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and support to the child’s care network, including carers and professionals.
  • Contribute to service planning, quality improvement, research and audits.
  • Develop strong working relationships with residential teams, foster carers, CAMHS, Primary Care and Disability Services.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of children and young people.

    • Essential Requirements


  • Registration with CORU – Occupational Therapists Registration Board.
  • Minimum three years post-qualification clinical experience, including at least one year working with children/young people.
  • Strong clinical skills, professional judgement, and suitability for work within a multidisciplinary child-focused service.
  • Full driving licence and access to suitable transport.
  • Additional training and/or experience in Sensory Integration.
