Purpose
Scotiabank’s Global Technology Services (GTS) Pega Operations is a DevOps department that is responsible for maintaining 60+ Pega applications across Private Cloud, Azure Cloud, and On-Prem environments. They provide 24x7 support functions to critical applications used by our Digital Channel, Branch Channel, and Contact Center, serving Bank’s customers.
There will be some rotational shifts, covering late afternoons, evenings, or overnight, and could include weekends and statutory/bank holidays on call support.
Accountabilities
- The Pega Systems Administrator will perform day-to-day system operation support, including system outage management, system monitoring of PRPC runtime health, and ensuring connectivity to backend resources is uninterrupted.
- The Pega Systems Administrator will perform day-to-day incident management, respond to issues reported from Development Teams, identify root cause, resolve or appropriately escalate until resolved.
- Should have a solid understanding of Pega applications with advanced troubleshooting skills of Pega Systems, AIX, Linux, JBOSS, Tomcat, and Azure Cloud.
- Manage day-to-day customer issues, screen sharing, hotfix installation, software upgrades, security vulnerabilities, and operational risks.
- Ability to speak on conference bridge while troubleshooting and screen sharing during customer calls or major incidents.
- Create and execute Change records and tasks for application and infrastructure.
- Strong focus on customer service excellence, leadership, and software development methodology. Proactive and dynamic, demonstrating initiative and eagerness to learn.
- Proactive monitoring of systems and ensure issues are fixed in a timely manner to avoid/prevent outage.
- Manage troubleshooting effort to resolve high-impact issues on conference bridge and provide updates to clients.
- Provide technical expertise, guidance, and advice on all aspects of the Pega application.
- Deep understanding of Linux and AIX commands, troubleshooting system issues.
- Responsible for creation and walkthroughs of checklists to ensure quality and completeness of planned change activity.
- Work closely with application stakeholders and engineer teams to resolve complex issues.
- Coordinate and execute hotfixes and patch updates to systems.
- Manage disaster recovery execution, coordination, and security vulnerability remediation.
- Understand & incorporate the Bank’s risk appetite and culture into day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring compliance with operational, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk controls.
- Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive workplace.
Education / Experience / Other Information
- 1+ year Pega System Admin experience or Certification.
- 2+ years of System Administrator experience (AIX, Linux, JBOSS, Azure Cloud).
- 2+ years of working experience in PowerShell, Python, Java, GIT, BitBucket, Fastlane, JBOSS, Tomcat, WebSphere.
- 1+ year IP360 & CCM security vulnerability remediation.
Working Conditions
When required, non-standard office working hours for scheduled implementations or while on rotational 24x7 on-call support.
