About the Role
Join us as a Senior Piping & Layout Lead to build, lead, and grow a high‑performance Piping and Layout Engineering team within a Global Capability Center (GCC). You will drive the complete delivery of piping design, 3 D plant layout, Piping Materials, MTO preparation, and interdiscipline coordination across Pre‑Basic, Basic, and Detail Engineering phases.
This role requires deep expertise in piping engineering, plant layout, 3 D design, piping standards, COMOS, E3 D, and global project execution. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensure alignment with global engineering standards, and support the successful delivery of piping & layout engineering work packages.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Build and mentor a Piping & Layout Engineering team within the GCC.
- Manage resource planning, workload balance, and discipline capability development.
- Drive a strong culture of safety, quality, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
Piping & Layout Engineering Execution
Oversee and guide key activities including:
- Development of plant layouts for industrial and chemical facilities according to project, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Execution of 3 D piping design, pipe routing, support design, and creation of isometric drawings aligned with global standards.
- Coordination with BIM teams and disciplines such as HVAC, EIC, CSA, Process, Mechanical.
- Preparation of MTOs (Material Take-Offs) for piping procurement.
- Providing expertise through the Piping Materials Team including the creation and management of pipe classes in COMOS/E3 D.
- Preparation of piping documentation, design reports, and engineering deliverables.
- Ensuring compliance with international piping standards and codes.
Project Interface & Communication
- Act as the primary Piping & Layout Engineering contact for internal/global teams.
- Collaborate with discipline leads to ensure seamless engineering integration.
- Support procurement and vendor evaluations for piping components, materials, and equipment.
- Maintain clear communication, progress tracking, and issue resolution across global teams.
Quality, Standards & Compliance
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with international piping codes and standards.
- Drive alignment with global specifications, engineering workflows, and digital engineering tools (COMOS, E3 D, SAP).
- Support technical queries during construction and commissioning phases.
- Promote standardization and harmonization of piping & layout engineering processes.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience
- 15+ years in Piping & Layout Engineering for industrial or chemical plant projects.
- At least 5 years in a leadership or team‑lead position.
- Experience delivering engineering work packages in global/multicultural environments.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in plant layout, 3 D piping design, isometrics, pipe supports, and piping materials.
- Proficiency with COMOS, E3 D, and familiarity with global piping standards (ASME, DIN, EN, ISO, etc.).
- Experience preparing MTOs, pipe classes, tender documents, and technical assessments.
- Knowledge of interdisciplinary interfaces across Process, Mechanical, EIC, CSA, and Layout.
Leadership & Communication
- Excellent team leadership, mentoring, and engineering coordination skills.
- Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate across global teams.
- Proven stakeholder management and ability to represent the piping discipline effectively.
Other Skills
- Highly organized, target‑driven, and capable of working independently.
- Strong experience in change management and knowledge transfer.
- Experience working in a GCC/onshore–offshore delivery model is a strong plus.
